Youth Collaborative

  • Mentorship

We believe in the power of guidance and support in shaping the lives of our youth. Experienced mentors work closely with young individuals, offering insights, encouragement, and a positive role model for them to look up to. Through one-on-one interactions, group activities, and shared experiences, our mentorship programs aim to build lasting connections and provide the necessary support for personal development.

  • Positive Environment

Creating a positive environment is crucial for the well-being of our youth. We strive to cultivate a space where individuals feel safe, supported, and inspired to explore their full potential. Through various activities, workshops, and community events, we promote a sense of belonging and encourage a positive mindset that fosters resilience in the face of challenges.

  • Educational Campaign

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

  • Immigration Assistance

The Coney Island Anti-Violence Immigration Assistance program extends support to migrants by providing non-legal guidance and aiding in the completion of necessary documents for the residency process. Numerous individuals resort to expensive legal representation for straightforward questions on USCIS applications, which literate English speakers can handle without cost. The CIAVC aims to bridge the gap by helping migrants navigate these documents, enabling them to obtain their working visas within the first year of entering the country, especially when resources pose a challenge.

  • Community Assistance Program

CIAVC community assistance program, is committed to aiding residents in various aspects of housing-related procedures. This includes providing support for housing applications, assisting with Human Resources Administration (HRA) applications and renewals, and facilitating mediation between HRA and other city agencies on behalf of community members requiring assistance. Our services extend to guiding residents through essential processes such as creating emails, navigating Section 8 applications, and managing New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) application and renewal procedures. The CIAVC is dedicated to ensuring that individuals in our community receive the necessary help to navigate complex housing-related requirements and maintain stable living conditions.

  • Stocking Local Pantry

The Ciavc "Helping Hands Project" aims to stock local pantries to support the community. By replenishing these pantries, we help our community members in several significant ways, such as, Meeting Basic Needs, Promoting Health, and Nutrition and more. This initiative allows us to partner with other organizations to provide the much-needed food. Although the "Helping Hands Project" does provide this assistance to the pantries it is not just about providing food—it's about investing in the health, resilience, and interconnectedness of our community. By coming together to support one another in times of need, we build a stronger and more compassionate society for everyone.

  • Community Assistance Program

The Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative (CIAVC) actively procures and accepts clean donations of clothing and essential items, including baby supplies like diapers and other necessities. These items are then distributed to families in need within the community, ensuring that they have access to basic essentials for themselves and their children.

The Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative's "Step Up Project" embodies a proactive and comprehensive approach to addressing violence within the community. Serving as both violence interrupters and preventers, this initiative is a vital component of our organization's efforts to promote safety and well-being.

The "Step Up Project" deploys a dedicated street team that conducts regular patrols and checks of high-risk areas within the community. These areas include locations such as staircases in NYCHA facilities and dark alleys, where incidents of violence are more likely to occur. By maintaining a visible presence in these areas, our street team works to deter potential violence and ensure the safety of residents.

In addition to their presence as a deterrent, the street team also serves as violence interrupters. They are trained to intervene in conflicts and disputes before they escalate into violence, using de-escalation techniques and mediation skills to resolve conflicts peacefully. By intervening at the early stages of potential violence, the "Step Up Project" aims to prevent harm and promote positive outcomes for all involved parties.

The Coney Island Anti-Violence Collaborative (CIAVC) is deeply committed to addressing domestic violence within the community through its comprehensive support services. One crucial aspect of this work is the organization's initiative to assist domestic violence victims by facilitating their discreet placement into safe spaces.

This initiative is designed to prioritize the safety and well-being of individuals who are experiencing domestic violence. Recognizing the urgent need for immediate intervention in such situations, we work swiftly and confidentially to provide victims with a secure environment where they can seek refuge from their abusers.

By offering assistance in secretly placing domestic violence victims into safe spaces, we help to mitigate the risk of further harm or escalation of violence. This intervention is crucial in empowering victims to break free from abusive situations and access the support and resources they need to rebuild their lives.

The collaborative ensures the confidentiality of this process, CIAVC respects the privacy and dignity of domestic violence survivors, allowing them to seek assistance without fear of retaliation or exposure.
